Vacant homes are a common sight in many metropolitan U.S. cities, but, apparently, St. Louis has more than most.

According to U.S. Census data, St. Louis has the second highest rate of home vacancy among major U.S. cities.

The St. Louis Business Journal reports that St. Louis also has the fourth-oldest housing stock among the 81 major cities, with 80.5 percent of its homes having been built more than 50 years ago.

So who has the number one home vacancy rate above St. Louis?

New Orleans at 21.5 percent.
