Missouri Republicans have officially picked up another seat in the state Senate.

Secretary of State Robin Carnahan today certified the results of the recount in the 24th District race between Democrat Barbra Fraser and Republican John Lamping. Lamping beat Fraser by 126 votes - 30,619 to 30,493. An initial count had Lamping ahead by 133 votes, but the narrow margin of victory allowed Fraser to request a recount.

Her staff told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch in November that they had questions about the vote count, but gave no details at the time.

Lamping will fill the seat vacated by Democrat Joan Bray, who could not run again because of term limits. He does financial advising. Fraser is a member of the St. Louis County Council.
