St. Louis developer interested in iconic Detroit school

If you were listening to NPR's Morning Edition around 6:30 a.m. or again around 8:30 a.m., you might have heard a familiar name - developer Richard Baron, of McCormack Baron Salazar.

According to this story by freelancer Chris McCarus, Baron is trying to raise the $150 million it would take to rehab the 89-year-old building. The Detroit Public Schools, despite running a $327  million deficit, wants to spend the $3 million to tear down the building, which has been ransacked by vandals.

You may remember Adam Allington's story from 2009 on the similar problem facing the St. Louis Public Schools.
