A St. Louis teenager has been certified to stand trial as an adult for allegedly driving a van at officers, then pointing a gun at them.
The officers responded by shooting the suspect, 16-year-old Terance Cornell Irons. He is recovering from his wounds and now faces two counts of assault on a law enforcement officer.
Irons does not yet have an attorney.
The incident happened Dec. 1 as police were investigating the robbery of a pizza delivery driver. As officers approached a van, it sped toward them and rammed their car.
Police say Irons got out of the van and pointed a gun at officers, who fired at him, striking Irons in the hand and leg. The officers were not hurt.
A 23-year-old man was also arrested. A third suspect got away.
