The Missouri Department of Transportation will unveil its plans for the new Jefferson Avenue Bridge on Tuesday.
MODOT Spokeswoman Kara Price says the new bridge will be a significant upgrade over the current structure.
“We are going to be upgrading the sidewalks, bike lanes and pedestrian ramps to ADA standards,” Price said. “We will also be increasing the length of the entrance and exit ramps along I-64.”
Price says the current bridge was built in the 1960s and is too outdated to simply fix.
Construction on the $5.5 million project is slated to begin the end of this year and be complete by the fall of 2012.
