Searchers located the body of Fred Guthrie's patrol dog Reed on Tuesday afternoon near Mo. Highway 118 in Holt County, about 100 yards from the location where Trooper Guthrie's truck and boat were found on Monday. The search for the trooper's body continues.

Rescue workers have resumed searching for a missing Missouri State Police trooper who is presumed to be drowned in the northwest part of the state.
Trooper Fred Guthrie Jr.works for the Water Patrol Division. He and his dog were helping with flood duties in Holt County on Monday when they apparently were swept away by flood waters. Rescue workers are searching near Big Lake, about 10 miles southwest of Mound City.
The search stopped after dark on Monday because of the danger posed by the rapid water, but began again Tuesday at daybreak. Numerous law enforcement agencies are helping with the search.
The 46-year-old Guthrie served in the Water Patrol Division with Troop A in Platte County. In 2007, he was honored for rescuing a woman who had been thrown from her boat in Smithville Lake during a thunderstorm.
