As the six-month anniversary of the presidential disaster declaration for Missouri approaches, federal disaster grants and loans have reached over $3.5 million in St. Louis County.
Grants and loans have been distributed by FEMA’s Individuals and Household Programs, their Public Assistance Program and the Small Business Administration disaster loan program.
The money has been providing for those affected by disasters in St. Louis County.
The Small Business Administration (SBA) has provided over $1 million for residents and businesses to help with their recovery. Those whom the SBA does not provide for, the Individuals and Household Program (IHP) picks up by providing grants for essential needs such as lost personal property and transportation.
The IHP has also provided over $1 million in grants to those in need of temporary housing due to disaster damage of their primary dwelling.
FEMA’s Public Assistance program takes care of disaster related emergency protective measures such as removing debris and repairing damaged infrastructure. Their contribution has totaled to over $1 million as well.
Nov. 9, 2011 marks the six months since the declaration for disaster damages that occurred April 19 through June 6.
