Officials at Arlington National Cemetery say they have so far found no further evidence of misplaced gravesites as they continue to individually check each of the cemetery's nearly 260,000 markers.
The cemetery briefed Sen. Claire McCaskill, D-Mo., Friday on its ongoing reform efforts following revelations last year of more than 200 misidentified gravesites.
The cemetery says it has so far checked 86 percent of the grave markers. None of those checks has revealed any problems in terms of knowing who is buried where.
But they have found tens of thousands of gravesites that reveal discrepancies between headstones and paperwork on details like a correct date of birth or misspelled name.
McCaskill, who had been a leading critic of the cemetery's management, said she is encouraged by the cemetery's improved management.
