A Greenville, Ill. native who spent the last four years in the Federal Bureau of Investigation's Critical Incident Response Group is the new special agent in charge of the FBI field office in St. Louis.
The FBI announced the appointment of Dean C. Bryant to the post today. He replaces Dennis Baker, who retired at the end of December.
Bryant was a railroad investigator for 11 years before joining the bureau in 1991. He started in the Miami office (which is currently led by John Gillies, who once led the St. Louis office), where he worked for nine years. After a 2003 promotion to supervisory special agent, Bryant served in the Counterterrorism Division at FBI headquarters in Quantico, Va., and spent some time overseas in Iraq and Qatar.
He first came to Missouri in 2005 when he was selected to oversee investigations in 32 counties in southeastern Missouri and southwestern Kansas.
