Yesterday, the Drug Enforcement Administration, Franklin County Narcotics Enforcement Unit and the Kirkwood and Pacific City Police Departments busted a large methamphetamine manufacturing network believed to have operated from 2009 to 2011. Twenty-one individuals from Franklin and Jefferson counties suspected to be involved in the network were arrested. (The full list of those arrested is below).
James Shroba, Acting Special Agent in charge of the DEA St. Louis Division, and Sergeant Jason Grellner, Franklin County Narcotics Unit, said in a statement the arrests demonstrate the continuing methamphetamine manufacturing problem that Shroba said “plagues many of our rural counties.”
Shroba went on to say Missouri methamphetamine manufacturing “poses a serious health risk to both the individual user as well as our environment.”
If convicted, the arrested could face a prison sentence of:
- 5 to 40 years for conspiracy to manufacture in excess of 50 grams, and
- A maximum of 20 years in prison for possession of pseudoephedrine with the intent to manufacture methamphetamine.
