Two people were killed and another 91 injured on Missouri’s roads during the Christmas holiday.
The state Highway Patrol investigated 239 crashes between December 21st and Christmas Day, and arrested 130 people for driving while intoxicated. During the Christmas holiday last year, five people were killed and 67 injured, and state police arrested 56 for DWI.
Both of this year's fatal crashes occurred in the southwest corner of the state. 36-year-old William Pope was killed when he ran off the road in rural Greene County and struck a fence and a tree. Pope was not wearing a seatbelt. And a 38-year-old woman, Brandy Acheson, was killed when she crossed the center line on Mo. Highway 39 near Mount Vernon and struck another car head-on. The other driver was seriously injured. Both were wearing seatbelts.
