The next phase of the Bike St. Louis project is getting started and the city and the Great Rivers Greenway are looking for public input.
An open house is taking place Thursday from 4:30 to 7 p.m. at the Forest Park Visitors Center.
Great Rivers Greenway’s Director of Planning Todd Antoine says the plan includes 40 miles of new on-street bicycle routes including on Grand Avenue and North Broadway.
"We’re looking at major corridors that folks use that sort of tie into the existing systems to connect to those major employment destinations, or for schools or for the Metrolink system," he said.
Antoine says they want to upgrade another 60 miles of existing bike routes including increased signage.
The plan also calls for six bicycle-parking corrals, and Antoine says they are looking for input on where those should be located.
"Part of the meeting tonight is to ask for suggestions from folks," Antoine said. "I think we all probably have our favorite coffee shop or a favorite place that we go that doesn’t always have a place to secure your bike to. So we’re sort of looking for those locations."
Antoine says those who cannot attend can fill out a survey at Great Rivers Greenway.
