Changes are coming to the St. Louis Public Radio program schedule starting this Saturday, October 3.
Only A Game, which aired at 6 a.m. on Saturdays, ended its 27-year production run in September. Taking its place will be a new program for St. Louis Public Radio listeners, The New Yorker Radio Hour.
The New Yorker Radio Hour is a weekly program presented by the magazine’s editor, David Remnick, and produced by WNYC Studios and The New Yorker. Each episode features a diverse mix of interviews, profiles, storytelling, and an occasional burst of humor inspired by the magazine, and shaped by its writers, artists, and editors. This isn’t a radio version of a magazine, but something all its own, reflecting the rich possibilities of audio storytelling and conversation.
Also coming this month is round two of America Amplified — a program and journalism collaboration among public media stations, including St. Louis Public Radio, and led by sister station KCUR in Kansas City. A new six-week run of America Amplified, this time with a focus on dialogue, shared experiences and perspectives from across the country that will frame our political choices this election season, will start on Saturday, October 10 and run through Saturday, November 14.
After the conclusion of America Amplified, The New Yorker Radio Hour will move to Saturdays at 2 p.m. beginning November 21.
In addition, beginning on Saturday, October 3, On The Media and Fresh Air Weekend will flip broadcast times. On The Media will air at 6 p.m. on Saturdays and Fresh Air Weekend will air on Sundays at 8 p.m. A second broadcast of On The Media will continue on Sundays at 6 a.m.
Finally, Nancy Kranzberg is returning with her local arts essays. She will be heard at a new time on the first Saturday of each month at 7:35 a.m. during Weekend Edition Saturday.
