St. Louis Public Radio To Change Weekend Program Schedule In September

Beginning Saturday, Sept. 4, St. Louis Public Radio will air a new program lineup on weekend mornings, following NPR’s cancellation of the puzzle game show Ask Me Another.

Here are the changes taking place:

  • Ask Me Another has ended production and is leaving the schedule.
  • Wait Wait… Don’t Tell Me will move an hour earlier on Saturdays, to 10 a.m.
  • The Splendid Table will air on Saturdays at 11 a.m. and will repeat in its same time slot held previously, Sundays at 7 p.m.
  • Radiolab will air on Sundays at 11 a.m. as a repeat of its current and remaining time slot, Saturdays at 3 p.m.

In its nine years on St. Louis Public Radio, Ask Me Another became a popular and beloved show locally, with host Ophira Eisenberg and musician Jonathan Coulton's comedy, songs, and quirky trivia carrying on the tradition of entertaining weekend shows beyond Car Talk.

Ask Me Another events quickly sold out in St. Louis and were fun live broadcast experiences for St. Louis Public Radio members. Ophira appeared most recently in St. Louis in July, for comedy performances at The Gaslight Theater. She spoke then with St. Louis on the Air host Sarah Fenske about the cancellation and how the show quickly pivoted their production at the start of the pandemic.

The Splendid Table is returning to Saturday mornings and will serve as inspiration for planning your weekend meals. Hosted by award-winning food writer Francis Lam, the show has been an original weekend companion on St. Louis Public Radio for two decades. Listeners hear a modern, multicultural weekly snapshot of the food world — exploring different cultures, cuisines and ideas, as well as the small personal stories that come out of the expansive world of the table. As a former restaurant cook and culinary school graduate, Francis can handle virtually any food query and loves taking listener calls.

Radiolab is one of the most beloved radio programs in the world as an entertaining platform for long-form journalism and storytelling. The show challenges listeners’ preconceived notions about how the world works — exploring science, philosophy and ethics. It has won some of the most prestigious awards in journalism.
