Webster University Project documents the end of Kodachrome

On January 18, 2011, the very last batches of Kodachrome film were processed at Dwayne's Photo Lab in Parsons, Kansas. Webster University students and faculty were there to witness that last run, which included 100 rolls of their own.

Now, just three months later, the Webster team presents Kodachrome/ End of the Run: Photographs from the Final Batches.  The book and the corresponding exhibit represent their farewell to the iconic film, the first successfully mass-marketed color still film, manufactured by Eastman Kodak from 1935-2009. Project editors Susan Hacker Stang and Bill Barrett joined Steve Potter for last week's Cityscape.  You can hear their entire discussion in the Cityscape archives.  They were also joined by former TIME photo editor, Arnold Drapkin, who contributed to the book.  (For the extra curious, you can view David Burnett's 1979 World Press Photo of the Year that Arnold mentioned during the broadcast here.)

The exhibit runs through the end of the month at Webster's May Gallery.
