Less than 24 hours after the Cardinals completed a 4-2 win over Arizona, the sod at Busch Stadium is dug up and gone.
The work is part of preparations for the U2 concert at the St. Louis ballpark on Sunday. It is expected to be one of the largest concerts in St. Louis since the Beatles played at the old Busch Stadium in the mid-1960s.
Soon after the completion of Sunday's game, crews began digging up sod to help make way for the massive stage that is part of the U2 show, along with huge monitors.
The Cardinals are off for baseball's All-Star break, then return to action with a road trip starting Thursday. They don't return to Busch until July 25.
