CultureGrrl: Museums Face Financial Uncertainty

(via Wikimedia Commons)

Lee Rosenbaum is a cultural commentator who writes the award-winning blog, CultureGrrl.  Her work has been featured in numerous media including the Wall Street Journal, New York Times and NPR.

Rosenbaum is in St. Louis this weekend as part of the Greater St. Louis Humanities Festival.  Her lecture, hosted by Laumeier Sculpture Park and taking place at the Contemporary Art Museum, is entitled, Monetizing Culture: Will Museums Fall off the Fiscal Cliff?

Her lecture will address an unprecedented combination of threats to the financial survival of museums.  As the Greater St. Louis Humanities Festival describes, many museums face “decreased support from government and corporations, less favorable tax treatment for donations, and international financial instability that may further erode operating endowments.”

Host Steve Potter talked with Rosenbaum about her upcoming lecture and the state of museums.
