Sound Bites: New Gamlin Whiskey House Featured On 'Hit List'

From left to right, Brothers Lucas and Derek Gamlin outside of Gamlin Whiskey House, one of their two new venues.

In our monthly Sound Bites segment in partnership with Sauce Magazine, host Steve Potter discussed new restaurants and bars opening up in St. Louis with Ligaya Figueras, executive editor of Sauce Magazine. Every month the magazine makes up a "hit list" of new venues the editors recommend visiting.

One of the new venues listed this month is Gamlin Whiskey House, a new venture for brothers Lucas and Derek Gamlin, co-owners of Sub Zero Vodka Bar in the Centeral West End. Lucas Gamlin and Fred Harrison, the general manager of Gamlin Whiskey House, were also guests on the show.

Figueras said Gamlin Whiskey House deserves to be on the list because they aren't dusting off the same old steakhouse theme. One of the things that makes them stand out, she said, is the long list of whiskey on the menu, about 200 in all.

Cityscape is produced by Mary Edwards and Alex Heuer, hosted by Steve Potter and funded in part by the the Arts and Education Council of Greater St. Louis, the Regional Arts Commission and the Missouri Arts Council, a state agency.
