St. Louis’ June 28-29 PrideFest may be weeks away, but more LGBT events and performances are coming up in the next few days.
Beginning Thursday night, Stray Dog Theatre presents “Love! Valour! Compassion!" to be staged every Thursday, Friday and Saturday through June 28 at South City's Tower Grove Abbey.
The Terrence McNally play, about eight gay men celebrating the summer holidays in a lakeside vacation home, opened in New York City in 1994. The next year, it made it to Broadway, winning the Tony Award for Best Play and the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Play.

This Friday and Saturday nights, the Gateway Men’s Chorus reaches back 30 years in music history to present “The 80's Show!” The musical journey at Washington University’s Edison Theatre includes hits from Cyndi Lauper, John Cougar Mellencamp, The Bangles, Wham! and Michael Jackson.
The performance also recalls a decade when HIV/AIDS first appeared, and gay choruses emerged to provide a safe haven and sense of community during a confusing and often painful era.
The Gateway Men’s Chorus will perform again at the June 28-29 St. Louis PrideFest on Saturday at 1:45 p.m. The PrideFest entertainment Saturday lineup also includes God Des & She at 5 p.m. and headliner Alex Newell at 8:50. Sunday’s musical offerings include headliners Betty Who at 5:15 p.m. and MTKO at 6:30 p.m.
