The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis was the biggest winner at Monday night's local Theater Circle Awards.
The Rep won nine awards, overall, more than any other company. Five of them were for “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.”
The Muny took home six awards, four of which were for “Seussical.” Insight Theatre garnered five awards, all of them for its “Death of a Salesman.” St. Louis Actors' Studio won four awards.
Comedy, musicals and drama each have their own set of awards for performers, directors, productions and other categories.
There was one tie. Insight Theater's "Death of a Salesman" and HotCity's "The Normal Heart" both won for Outstanding Production of a Drama, letting HotCity bow out of St. Louis' theater scene with a final Theater Circle Award for its staging of Larry Kramer's classic drama about the early days of the AIDS crisis.
