Fair Saint Louis enters its 35th year with a line-up that includes acts from Chris Young to Kool & the Gang. PR Chairman for Fair St. Louis Alonzo Byrd says organizers strive to acknowledge St. Louis is a music city.
“I’ve been going to concerts here in St. Louis all my life, and we’ve seen the best, so we try to emulate that with Fair St. Louis,” he said.
Fair Saint Louis began its Fourth of July tradition in 1981. Although the fair was historically held at the Jefferson National Expansion Memorial, current renovations of that location shifted the fair to Forest Park. The fair draws a crowd of roughly 250,000 people throughout the weekend.
“We strive to have something for everybody and I think this line up we announced today, that’s a good mixture there,” he said.
The official announcement of entertainers was made at 5 p.m. Wednesday. Yet, part of the weekends festivities were leaked earlier in the day when Blondie announced its upcoming North American tour featuring Melissa Etheridge, which included the festival.
