Here’s hoping the weather cooperates this weekend because lots of festivals are planned — as well as opera al fresco.
Ferguson is hosting Spring Fest on Saturday, which also marks the opening of its farmers’ market, 20 S. Florissant Road. In addition to such things as hula hoop and home brew demonstrations, bands will provide a backdrop and a reason to stop by. The music starts at 9 a.m. with the Bedlam Brothers Band and includes Jeske Park Band (12:30 p.m.), Jeanie Trevor (3:30 p.m.), Javier Mendoza (6:30 p.m.) and Soulard Blues Band (9 p.m.).

Kirkwood’s Mayfest is also Saturday. The Tunes at Ten series at the Kirkwood Farmers’ Market will feature Salt of the Earth (10 a.m.). Boogie Foot will be at the station plaza at 11 a.m. Other things to check out there are the Kirkwood Garden Club's plant sale, the Artists in Bloom Art Show and National Train Day and Rail Safety Day festivities.
The Missouri History Museum will host Opera Theatre’s Spring Sing! at 12:30 p.m. Saturday. This free outdoor concert joins volunteer singers with artists who will be featured during this festival season – plus mezzo-soprano Denyce Graves, soprano Christine Brewer and members of the Normandy High School Choir.
