Audio Agitation: Going Cosmic

Audio Agitation
Laura Heidotten | St. Louis Public Radio

Two days ago NPR’s First Listen program premiered a new album by Heron Oblivion. The indie-psychedelic super group of sorts includes musicians from psych-folk group Espers and noise-rockers Comets on Fire.

This got us thinking about local space cadets and what some of St. Louis’s own psychedelic and ambient wizards might be up to. With a little digging we found that a pretty prolific local musician recently put a bunch of music up on bandcamp.com and another musician just released a new EP. They're included in todays playlist.

Raglani: Joseph Raglani has released records on preeminent experimental electronic labels Kranky,  Editions Mego and Spectrum Spools.  He’s released collaborations as Bryter Layter, and other solo projects as Temporal Marauder.  Much of his music is made with modular synthesizers.

Oxherding: Oxherding is the ambient, synth-heavy, soundscape project of Christian “Fitz” Hartwig.  Hartwig’s released three EP’s under the moniker.

Audio Agitation is a recurring six-song playlist (four this week due to track length) culled from recent releases or shaped by events on St. Louis' ever-changing music scene. If you're from the STL area or Missouri and you're putting out a record you think we should hear, send a heads up to warnold@stlpublicradio.org.
