Dr. Emmett is the Chair Emeritus and senior advisor of the Department of Internal Medicine at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. Dr. Emmett was born in the Bindermichel Displaced Persons Camp (near Linz, Austria) on October 29, 1945. Most of his extended family and his sister had been murdered by Ukrainian Nazi collaborators. His family emigrated to the USA when he was four years old, eventually settling in Philadelphia.
