Urban Eats Food Day & Community Festival 2024: Where Dreams, Culture, and Community Converge

Urban Eats Food Day & Community Festival 2024: Where Dreams, Culture, and Community Converge

Imagine a community feast where we all come together for good food and great vibes. Sounds fun, right? Get ready for the third annual Urban Eats Food Day & Community Festival 2024 on Saturday, September 14, in Downtown Dutchtown!

This year’s celebration is all about championing microentrepreneurs, fostering community spirit, and sharing rich cultural heritage. After participating in SLACO's Keeping It Clean Neighborhood Cleanup, enjoy global flavors and lively entertainment while exploring open volunteer opportunities. Bring your family and friends to a special day dedicated to community, culture, and collaboration. Here’s what to expect:

  • Global Flavors: Savor unique, mouth-watering dishes from an exciting mix of vendors, including our participating Urban Eats members: Tacos La Jefa, Puddin Puddin, Food Fairy Kitchen by Chef Marca Nicole, Da Picky Vegan, and All Rolled Up STL.
  • Community Spirit: Join the Keeping It Clean Neighborhood Cleanup, in partnership with SLACO, Dutchtown Main Streets, and funded by the Greater St. Louis, Inc. and the Dutchtown CID. Volunteers will receive a free food voucher for their participation.
  • Live Music & Performances: Experience a vibrant mix of live Mariachi, Ballet Folklorico, and DJ Papa G.
  • Expanded Vendor Range: Explore a diverse lineup of local businesses, showcasing food, arts, crafts, and more, including our new Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) Zone, featuring unique offerings from Dutchtown retailers/stores such as Kwamboka, Creative Expressions, and Twice Blessed Resale, pop-up shops and food vendors along 3200-3300 Meramec Street.
  • Honoring Tacos La Jefa: Join a special two-hour tribute to Tacos La Jefa and its founder, Heriberta Amezcua, celebrating her lasting legacy in the Dutchtown community.

This year’s Urban Eats Food Day and Community Festival is made possible by the generosity of our major sponsors and enduring champions of Dutchtown’s community development: Dutchtown Community Improvement District (DTCID), John Shadley Insurance, A&Q Tires and Wheels, and Mocafi; as well as supported by St. Louis Association Of Community Organizations (SLACO) and Dutchtown Main Streets.

To make it even easier to explore everything the festival has to offer, we are offering a free shuttle service running from Constantino to the Neighborhood Innovation Center (commonly referred to “NIC” or NICstl). Whether you're hopping around our pop-up offerings or simply taking a break, the shuttle will help you navigate the event with ease.

After months of hard work, we’re thrilled to unveil the long-awaited ADA Bathrooms Capital Project at the NIC during the Urban Eats Food Day and Community Festival. Funded by the Missouri Department of Economic Development (MO DED) and brought to life by our partners at Blackline Design + Construction, this milestone reflects our commitment to inclusivity and accessibility, ensuring every community member feels welcome and supported.
