St. Louis, MO – The 5400 block of Elizabeth Avenue, on the Hill in St. Louis, is now Hall of Fame Place.
Baseball Hall of Famers Yogi Berra and Joe Garagiola were honored Sunday; they grew up in that neighborhood. The street was also renamed to honor late Cardinals broadcaster Jack Buck, who lived on the Hill in the late 1950s.
Granite plaques marking their induction dates were installed in front of their former homes.
Berra is a 15-time All-Star catcher for the New York Yankees. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1972. Garagiola, who played for the Cardinals and other big-league teams, was inducted in 1991 for his broadcasting career. Buck entered the shrine in 1987.
