St. Louis, MO – A 78-year old minister who was attacked in his south St. Louis church on Sunday is in critical but stable condition.
Police say the Rev. Curtis McClain, Sr. was beaten and robbed by a homeless man for whom McClain had offered to make a sandwich. Police are looking for that man; they say he's a heavy drug user.
McClain came out of retirement to serve the Broadway Baptist Church in south St. Louis. Police say he had befriended the suspected attacker.
McClain's wife later found her bloodied husband and called a relative, who notified police.
