SPringfield, Ill. – A laywer for Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan says a federal investigation involving Madigan's office is over and no charges have been filed.
The attorney J. William Roberts says federal prosecutors have ended their look into whether the Chicago Democrat misused state resources and abused his political power. Specfically, they were examining whether Madigan's office used state workers and money for political campaigns.
Roberts says he's been told the investigation is closed, but Assistant U.S. Attorney Patrick Chesley says he couldn't comment on the status of the case.
