Madry, Mo. – There have been so many cattle stolen in southwest Missouri that cattle and property owners are organizing to fight the thieves.
In the rural Barry County town of Madry, a meeting Tuesday will see the Madry Ranchers Protection Association formed - complete with an election for a board of directors.
The effort is a response to a cattle-rustling ring that has been working in a seven-county area that includes Barry and Lawrence counties.
The Highway Patrol has told ranchers to brand their cattle, count herds daily, and form neighborhood watch groups.
