Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon has picked the head of the state-funded Missouri Technology Corp. to be the state's third economic development director in less than four year.
Jason Hall's appointment will need Senate confirmation. He replaces David Kerr, who announced last month that he would step down at the end of the year. Kerr replaced St. Louis-area lawyer Linda Martinez, who resigned after less than a year following apparent disagreements with Nixon.
"Jason Hall is exactly the type of bright, energetic leader we need to help create jobs and move Missouri's economy forward," Gov. Nixon said in a statement. "With his strong background at the MTC and his stellar academic record, I know Jason will bring energy, dedication and professionalism to his new position as director of the Missouri Department of Economic Development. "
In his own statement, Hall says he looks forward to working with Nixon. He has been the head of the Missouri Technology Corp. since 2009 and before that was an attorney in private practice.
