Judge William Ray Price, Jr. vacates the Missouri Supreme Court effective Aug. 1, so someone will need to replace him.
Today, the the Appellate Judicial Commission released the names and demographic information of those vying for the position.
Interviews will begin Oct. 10, and from these 18 applicants, the Commission will select three people to recommend to Gov. Nixon. The public is allowed to view the interviews in October.

There are 18 applicants for the vacancy (see the full list of names, below).
Three applicants are women
One applicant is a minority.
Six applicants are from outside the St. Louis or Kansas City metropolitan areas.
11 applicants work in the public sector. Of those in the public sector, four are trial court judges.
Seven applicants work in the private sector. Of those in the private sector, three work in solo or small-firm practices.
The applicants’ mean age is 52.8.
