The new Ferguson city manager is a familiar face at city hall. De'Carlon Seewood is returning to the community after serving in a similar position in a Chicago suburb.
He was Ferguson's assistant city manager from 2001 to 2007. Seewood has also served as city manager in Berkeley.
He was hired by the Ferguson City Council from a pool of 40 candidates and essentially replaces John Shaw, who resigned after a federal report was highly critical of the city’s police and municipal court.
In a statement from the city, Seewood says he wants to bridge the gap for everyone who wants Ferguson to succeed.
Ferguson officials say his salary will be $110,000.
When he worked in Ferguson before, that city's statement said, Seewood helped to create a redevelopment plan for downtown, establishing a street-scape plan and assisting with the development of a farmers market.
