East St. Louis, Ill. – Former St. Louis Blues player Mike Danton admitted Friday that he sought to have his agent killed.
It was part of a plot that unraveled when the would-be hit man turned out to be a police informant.
Danton had been scheduled for trial this fall in East St. Louis, with co-defendant Katie Wolfmeyer. Instead he pleaded guilty in federal court to conspiracy to cause a person to travel in interstate commerce to commit murder.
Sentencing is set for October 22nd. The former NHL forward faces seven to ten years in prison and up to $250,000 in fines.
Federal prosecutors have agreed to let Danton serve his possible prison time in his native Canada.
