Springfield, IL – Dean Jane Treadwell says the computer hard drives were taken from the university library.
She says a search warrant indicates secretary of state's police were seeking e-mails, "buddy lists" and online address books.
Derek W. Potts is charged with murder in the shooting death of unarmed Capitol security guard William Wozniak September 20th.
He was enrolled in the university's criminal justice program but dropped out September 13th.
Police also may seek the contents of Potts's university e-mail account. Campus technology director Stephen Rohrer says he told police he could extract any messages.
