St. Louis, MO – "Pictorial" photography thrived for three decades around the turn of the last century, yet it has been largely overlooked in the U.S.
The St. Louis Art Museum currently is exhibiting "Impressionist Camera: Pictorial Photography in Europe 1888-1918." It's the largest collection of such work to be displayed in America.
KWMU's Maria Hickey got a first-hand look at the exhibition with Eric Lutz, the museum's Assistant Curator of Prints, Drawings, and Photographs. He started out by explaining just what "pictorialism" was.
