St. Louis, MO – The city of St. Louis has won an international award for its work in urban renewal.
The World Leadership Forum picked St. Louis last night over 400 other applicants from across the globe to win the World Leadership Award.
"This is real exciting for the city," noted Mayor Francis Slay, in an interview from London this morning. "It's another affirmation by an independent organization - in this case, from across the globe - that the successes we're achieving are real."
Slay says the award wasn't just based on physical urban renewal, either, but also considered efforts like those dealing with lead poisoning and homelessness.
Missouri was well represented, too. Kansas City was another of the four finalists, along with Manchester, England and Calcutta, India.
