MCT buses to use designated stops in downtown STL

By Tom Weber, KWMU

St. Louis, MO – People who use Madison County Transit to get into downtown St. Louis will have to change their bus rituals a little bit, starting next Monday.

Riders can currently catch one of MCT's green buses at just about any street corner. But spokesman S.J. Morrison says buses next week will only pick up and drop off people at designated stops.

"We have a lot of passengers, over the years, that have talked about how slow it is to pick up and drop off at every intersection," Morrison said, in an interview.

"What this will do is actually create a quicker route and a much more efficient bus route, especially for those folks that are getting dropped off further on down the line, such as AG Edwards."

The agency has been putting green decals on existing Metro bus stop signs to let travelers know where to catch a ride. MCT serves about 8,000 riders each day.
