SAINT LOUIS, MO – A special St. Clair County grand jury has indicted an Illinois State Police trooper on charges of aggravated reckless homicide in the deaths of two teenage sisters.
The jurors concluded Trooper Matt Mitchell's freeway speeds were excessive when his patrol cruiser swerved into an oncoming car's path, killing Jessica and Kelli Uhl.
Mitchell is also charged with two counts of aggravated reckless driving related to injuries sustained by two other people in the crash.
Reportedly, Mitchell's police car was rushing to another accident at 126 miles per hour, when it swerved.
