St. Louis, MO – Transportation officials will mark the start of construction on the main span of the new Mississippi River Bridge next Friday, February 26.
The groundbreaking ceremony will take place on the Eads Bridge, which sits just south of the future site of the new span.
The $670 million project is designed to relieve congestion on the Poplar Street Bridge as it redirects Interstate 70 traffic around downtown St. Louis. The Missouri Department of Transportation says it will take four to six years to complete the new bridge.
