St. Louis – The Robert E. Lee riverboat was destroyed in a fire yesterday.
The replica vessel was built in 1969 and had once been a popular St. Louis riverfront restaurant.
It was docked at a repair yard in north St. Louis when the fire broke out. The cause is under investigation.
An investor bought the boat in 2008 and had planned to make it a riverside attraction in St. Charles.
