Morning Edition host David Greene was the guest of honor at our Annual Dinner last night - and what an honor it was! True to his warm, affable, on-air persona, David welcomed guests, stood for pictures, and shared stories with listeners who were eager to tell him about their favorite Morning Edition moments.
David talked about his time covering the White House - including the time he was stuck in the basement of the West Wing during an evacuation (an event later "featured" on Wait Wait... Don't Tell Me), he shared heartfelt stories about the connections he made with the victims of Hurricane Katrina, and he weighed in on the importance of the sacred space at the NPR anchor desk.
He is leaving St. Louis today and will be back at his post on Monday, reporting the news and keeping us company as we prepare for the day ahead.
