Co-Directors of Art on the Square, a staple of the Metro East town, sent an email to committee members last week, stating that they didn’t “see a path” for putting on a show in 2025.

After leaving for a vacation, the Belleville family left their cat, Malone, with St. Clair County Animal Services after a biting incident to be monitored for rabies symptoms. The director of Animal Services later called the family to inform of them of "terrible, terrible mistake," according to the suit.

Belleville Historical Society is asking St. Clair County and the city of Belleville to halt a plan to demolish a vacant storefront on West Main Street that was built during the Civil War.

The strip mall has shown signs of neglect and mismanagement in recent years. Now, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission charged the owners for allegedly engaging in a scheme to "misappropriate" more than $35 million in investor funds.

The Illinois Department of Transportation has been talking about constructing a connector between Illinois 3 in Fairmont City and Illinois 203 and Madison, Illinois, for the last 20 years. Recently, the state agency unveiled its preferred route.
