Jazz Unlimited for September 30, 2018 will be “The Keys and Strings Hour Plus New Music.” The Keys and Strings Hour or the Quieter Side of Jazz will present some of Dizzy Gillespie’s compositions played by the Leroy Vinnegar group. Oscar Peterson, the Modern Jazz Quartet, Tommy Flanagan, Keith Jarrett, Kenny Barron, Phineas Newborn, Jr. and Gonzalo Rubalcaba. We will play new music in the second and third hours of the show. The featured musicians will be Christopher Hollyday, Mark Masters, Larry Goldings, Bill Carrothers, the French Strictly Strayhorn group, the Randy Brecker/Mats Holmquist big band recording, Allison Miller & Carmen Staaf, Ernesto Ceverini & Turboprop, Joshua Breakstone, Clark Sommers & Lens Miguel Zenon, the Ayn Inserto Orchestra, free jazz from Daniel Carter, Matthew Shipp & William Parker and Harry Vetro’s Northern Ranger. Thanks to all who contributed to the St. Louis Public Radio Member Campaign last Sunday night during Jazz Unlimited. We made our goals and then some.
