The Ferguson Commission has released its long-awaited report filled with calls to action for St. Louis government, the criminal justice system and the community. Join St. Louis Public Radio for a public town hall on Monday, Sept. 21, to discuss the report’s recommendations and what can be done to make them a reality beyond Ferguson and effect positive changes in the area.
“St. Louis on the Air” host Don Marsh will moderate a panel of community leaders selected to discuss what the report means, what is actionable and where we go from here. Joining us:
- James Knowles, mayor of Ferguson
- Terry Jones, professor of political science and public policy administration at the University of Missouri-St. Louis
- Byron Watson, a police officer with more than 30 years of experience in the St. Louis area, he is a member of the Ferguson Commission
- Rasheen Aldridge, a community organizer and activist, he is a member of the Ferguson Commission and the director of Young Activist United St. Louis
- Jason Rosenbaum, St. Louis Public Radio reporter
- Willis Johnson, pastor of Wellspring Church
We welcome your questions and comments, so we can inform how we facilitate the panel. Here’s how you can help:
- Come to the panel and community discussion at Wellspring Church in Ferguson, 33 S. Florissant Rd., at 7 p.m. on Monday, September 21. The town hall is free and open to the public.
- RSVP to the event on Facebook. Share it with your network, your colleagues and your friends. We want to host a vibrant panel and need a diverse set of viewpoints in the room to facilitate that.
- Tweet your thoughts to @STLonAir or @stlpublicradio with the hashtag #BeyondFerguson, email talk@stlpublicradio.org or leave a comment on this post. We’ll make notes of your questions and comments and incorporate them into the panel.
- Spend some time with #MyFergusonPriorities, a St. Louis Public Radio app that allows you to compare and contrast the Ferguson Commission report recommendations that are most important to you.
- Listen to the broadcast of the panel and share it with your communities. We’ll broadcast the event at noon on St. Louis on the Air, on September 22 and 23.
Again, we want your input on the panel’s discussion. Please help us shape the conversation #BeyondFerguson and going forward into St. Louis’ future.
