Not all of the news that you see and hear featured on St. Louis Public Radio comes from the St. Louis region itself—some of it comes from our reporters located in Jefferson City and Washington D.C. That would be Marshall Griffin and Jim Howard, respectively.
On Monday’s “St. Louis on the Air,” the two discussed the year’s biggest news from our nation’s capital and the capital of Missouri.
Here’s some of what they discussed:
- The resignation of House Speaker John Boehner
- Senate Democrats blocking all 12 appropriations bills in the Senate
- Improving the environment in Jefferson City for women, interns
- Turmoil in the Capitol building following Missouri Auditor Tom Schweich’s suicide
- Legislative response to unrest in Ferguson
- Senator Durbin’s push for a sales tax on online retailers
They also took a look at what will likely become big stories in 2016:
- Election-year politics of 2016
- Funding for a new NFL stadium
- Missouri Governor Jay Nixon’s legacy
