The St. Louis Theater Circle released its 2018 award nominees on Jan. 26 for locally produced professional theater in 2017. This is the sixth year of the awards.
On Friday’s St. Louis on the Air, Judith Newmark, St. Louis Post-Dispatch’s theater critic, and Ann Lemons Pollack, St. Louis Magazine contributing writer, joined host Don Marsh to discuss the nominations and the upcoming award ceremony.
The Stray Dog Theatre’s “Ragtime” production received the top number of nominations, with 9, followed closely by New Jewish Theatre’s “Intimate Apparel,” with 8. Some 60 productions received nominations.
The production company leading nominations numbers was The Rep, with 23 nominations, followed by Stray Dog Theatre, with 17 nominations. In total, 27 production companies had nominations.
All professional St. Louis productions are eligible; touring shows are not.
The awards will be announced at a gala ceremony on Monday, March 26 at the Loretto-Hilton Center for the Performing Arts, 130 Edgar Rd, Webster Groves, MO 63119. The ceremony begins at 7 p.m.
