Moscow Ballet is a Russian ballet company that has toured the U.S. and Canada during the holiday season since 1993. This year marks the 27th annual North American tour of the ensemble’s "Great Russian Nutcracker," "Swan Lake," "Romeo and Juliet," and other classic Russian ballets.
St. Louisans will get the chance to watch the ballet classics Nov. 20 and Nov. 21 at the Fabulous Fox Theatre, and performing alongside the Russian-trained classical dancers will be local ballet students.
Through Moscow Ballet’s Dance with Us initiative, children ages 6 to 18 years old auditioned for various roles — such as Party Children, Small Mice, Little Snowflakes and Snow Sprites — at Moscow Ballet’s host studio, SkyStone Conservatory of the Arts in Webster Groves, Missouri.
Children who made the cut rehearsed for six to eight weeks prior to this week’s performances. On Thursday’s St. Louis on the Air, host Sarah Fenske learned more about this production by talking with Yuriy Kuzo, Moscow Ballet soloist and audition director.
