Aaron Dorr is a policy adviser with the Missouri Firearms Coalition, and alongside his brothers, Ben and Chris, he runs a social media empire that appeals to gun owners who feel the NRA is too soft on gun rights.
The Dorr brothers have raised a lot of money. They’ve also been a thorn in the side of many state lawmakers, like Missouri state Rep. Suzie Pollock (R-123rd District), who told KCUR reporter Chris Haxel that Aaron Dorr had his members hassle her via email on the first day of the legislative session.
“He’s so hostile, and so aggressive and rude that I’m not going to listen to him,” Pollock said. “He is completely ineffective in this House.”
On Wednesday’s St. Louis on the Air, host Sarah Fenske talked with Haxel about how much influence the Dorr brothers have in state capitols across the Midwest. Haxel is a co-host for NPR's new podcast "No Compromise,” which dives deep into the work of the Dorr brothers and the culture they foster among their followers.
“St. Louis on the Air” brings you the stories of St. Louis and the people who live, work and create in our region. The show is hosted by Sarah Fenske and produced by Alex Heuer, Emily Woodbury, Evie Hemphill and Lara Hamdan. The audio engineer is Aaron Doerr.
