Amendment 1

Fundraising in the Republican and Democratic primaries for Missouri governor has exceeded $21 million, with the majority going to Lt. Gov. Mike Kehoe. But the race for attorney general is also proving pricey.

The amendment would open the way for the General Assembly to exempt child care businesses from property taxes in response to a chronic shortage.

There are a total of five statewide measures that are on the ballot for Missouri voters, but the one earning the most attention is whether the state should legalize the adult use of marijuana for those 21 and older.

Currently, only the governor and state auditor are restricted to two consecutive terms in Missouri. Opponents of the Amendment 1 ballot measure say it's a solution in need of a problem.

Like voters in Colorado, Utah and Michigan last year, Missouri's voters decided to alter the redistricting process. But lawmakers argue it could create bizarre districts that are hard to represent.
