Republican infighting in the Missouri Senate often got in the way of passing bills, including many of the majority party’s priorities.

The GOP chief executive stressed that there needed to be an agreement before he calls lawmakers back to Jefferson City to renew the tax that's critical in funding Missouri's Medicaid program.

The Steelville Republican also discussed likely and potential special sessions that could take place over the next few months.

Senate President Pro Tem Dave Schatz's bill would raise the gas tax 2.5 cents a year for five years.
